Bride Guide #7 from wedding photographer Lauren Kay Photography
If you’re engaged, you’re a little insane right now. And I’m only half-kidding. As a wedding photographer, I’ve been to a number of weddings, and that’s actually what spurred me to actually write this guide. As I watched other brides make the same mistakes I did, I started to realize I’m not the only one!
As married women, in retrospect we can see that we were crazy when we were engaged. I know that sounds silly, but it’s like a switch flips. Seriously. When I planned my wedding, I legit thought I had it all together and that it was exactly what we wanted. Woah.
So, humbly hear this. You are not thinking straight right now.
Accept that. Accept the crazy. Accept that maybe people who have gone through this before might have some good advice.
Be willing to let go. Be willing to let go of any agendas you may have. Anything you may be trying to prove. Be willing to let go of things you thought you always wanted that don’t really matter now. Be willing to let go of traditions that aren’t meaningful to you. Find a trusted circle and bounce your ideas off of them. When the only voice dictating things is your own, that gets a little scary.
Ask yourself:
What am I trying to prove or what agendas do I have that I need to let go of?
Who is someone I trust that I can bounce everything off of?
