They walked ahead. Holding hands. Laughing and joking as they walked in the sunset. I followed behind, capturing the moment. Another couple on the path walked towards us. They greeted us and then said, “You know, it’d be easier if you’d just elope!” Behind us now, Heidi and James turned to face them and in sync said, “WE DID!” The couple was taken aback. “Really?” they questioned. “Really!” It was the perfect ending to a perfect night.
Heidi and James were meant to be together. When Heidi walked out of work one day, a gentleman ran… like ran, to go grab the door for her. She was so touched. A friendship developed and they quickly realized that it was meant to be more than just that. I first met James at a Sunday dinner and was so impressed by how friendly and nice he was to be around. I’m glad he and his three beautiful children will be sticking around forever.
Their elopement was beautiful. Everything came together so perfectly. A close mentor and friend officiated the ceremony. Heidi and James laughed. Almost cried. And both said “she knows us!” more than once. Val’s words were the perfect start to this beautiful marriage.
Heidi and James, I am so excited for you two. You both were glowing. Literally. And I’m so happy to see you both so happy. You deserve it. I wish you so much happiness and cannot wait to share in some of it with you. I love you guys!
XO,
Lauren
