Bride Guide #42 gives you all the tips on choosing Faux or real flowers for your wedding By Tooele Utah Wedding Photographer Lauren Kay Photography.
I personally am definitely a fan of real flowers. I had faux flower for my bouquet and wish I would’ve invested in real. I know not everyone may agree and that’s okay! Here is my opinion. Most brides who do faux flowers want to either save money, keep their bouquet forever, or both. These are noble causes, really, but I want to shed some light on the matter:
Faux flowers look, well, faux. Most fake flowers are obviously fake flowers and are not as beautiful as a real flower. There are faux flowers that look very close to real, but they can be just as pricey if not more than real flowers. So you actually wouldn’t be saving any money.
You don’t need your bouquet forever. You hired a photographer to preserve your details forever. I did faux flowers because I was certain I would want to display my bouquet forever and now it’s in my closet collecting dust. Your pictures will preserve your bouquet forever. And you can even talk to your florist about having your real flower bouquet professionally preserved.
Unless your style is a bouquet that looks best pulled off with faux flowers, I would recommend investing in a real flower bouquet or in faux flowers that look and feel real.
● You can use flowers from Costco for décor or bridesmaids bouquets. ● Use your bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces for the tables. After the pictures have been taken, they won’t need to hold onto them all evening anyway. ● Ask your florist what flowers are in season and use those, rather than being set on a certain type of flower. This can save you so much!
